The Melbourne hailstorm does appear to be unprecedented for Victoria in delivering gorilla sized hailstones. Hailstones up to 10cm diameter were reported by a Bureau observer south east of the CBD. It is incredible that we have almost repeated the heat wave conditions Victoria experienced earlier this year which produced the catastrophic bushfires.
